The Syzygy Cult is (at present) an association of six high school students, forming the Syzygy Cult itself, along with various independent contractors. We are mostly located in and around Portland, Maine
Ben Birney is now a Junior at Waynflete School in Portland, ME. During the summer he has a secret identity as a sailing instructor for Harraseeket Yacht Club in Freeport Maine where he generally has all of one hour of free time every day. During the school year, he spends all of his free time programming or being on his local BBS. He has very few likes or dislikes outside of computers and thinks that Windows 95 is a crock. He also does quite a bit of MIDI-ing
when the mood strikes.
Ben Cote like most members of the cult is now a senior. Ben finds clever way to amuse himself, mountain biking, sugar, theatre, soda, writing, theater. He enjoys the latter, almost to a sickening degree. When Ben isn't engage in the listed activities he spends his time drooling over Jeep Wranglers, declaring loudly that he believes that it is his destiny to own own one of the buggers. After Ben has changed his shirt he can be found spending far too much time around Dustin and Jen, although this situation has had it perks and most people know just WHO that is . . .Cara, who he does not spend enough time around . . . As for future plans, Ben hopes to attend Weaton College next year where he will major in English or Anthropology.
Dustin Mitchell is the title given to a mass of living tissue housing an immortal soul. This mass of tissue spends most of its time in Maine, tending to the needs of its resident soul. The soul shares a great deal of its time and love with the soul of Jennifer Ellis.
Dustin's soul enjoys a number of noble pursuits, including love, coffee, music, coffee, reading, coffee, learning, coffee, performing arts, and occasionally coffee. When the soul isn't looking, however, the body likes to indulge in all sorts of activities: it often drinks coffee, drives an old Mazda truck wherever it needs to go, drinks coffee while driving an old Mazda truck wherever it needs to go, or plays solitaire. It occasionally does some work. Dustin's words of wisdom: "An ye harm none, do as ye will." May you wake tomorrow a free person.
Jake Beal is the most annoying programmer in the Syzygy Cult, in that he seems to constantly generate new (and unfinishable) projects. He holds primary responsibility for the Mantra MapEditor ("Well, it worked on my computer!"), RAMGauge ("Hey, cool, it works!"), and most of the Accidental Compilations ("You have been warned."). He lives in Portland, Maine, which is the center of the universe, or at least the local calling area. Currently, he too goes to Waynflete High School, but since he is a senior, this will soon change. At times, programming has overwhelmed him and he has successfully debugged a piece of code in a dream. Unfortunately, by the time he had started up his computer, he had forgotten, and since he never did figure out what he had done, that bug is probably still lurking in Mantra. His other interests include theatre, piano, writing, and listening to strange combinations of music (White Zombie, Yat-Kha and Miss Saigon are among his current favorites).
Gabe Ganberg enjoys living in Portland. Which as everyone in Southern Maine knows is the center of the known universe. When not flaunting his supreme powers games waits for godot while fulfilling his position as designer.
